His expression is mostly neutral, but anyone that knows him would notice his lack of attention to the area around him, something unusual for the commander. After a few more seconds, he closes his fist and looks at the camera.]

Is it? We don't know the reasons behind why the scientists bring us here in the first place. My theory is that they wait until we're ripe enough, and then someone will 'disappear' by which I mean they're eaten.

Some people "last" here only for a week.

Perhaps some people ripen faster than others.

There have been people who came back after being sent home.

Maybe those are ones that didn't digest properly, so they brought them back and erased the memory of being eaten.

Yes.

I believe there is some credibility to my theory, but I wouldn't say I necessarily believe it is the only possibility.

What other possibilities do you believe in?

Neither option sounds appealing.

That's a noble outlook on it, although not one I could say I'd be able to follow. I'm afraid if I didn't laugh at the world I'd have to cry at the sorrow of it all, and I've had enough tears to last me two lifetimes.
